First Fill Up

December 19, 2018 -

First fill up at the gas station. :-)

I know this is a build blog but it's kind of fun putting up photos that look good.

Finally

December 13, 2018 -

I wrapped up the shifter boot cover base ring with two nuts on the drivers side. The passenger side bolts were totally inaccessible underneath but the holes I drilled were perfectly sized so screwing the bolts in alone kept it tight on that side. (Thanks for the late night help Michele!)

The weather was nice today (50 degrees) so I put on a hat and gloves and turned on the seat heater and went for a drive. I stopped and got it inspected so it has all the stickers it needs now. If you're at this point in a build, don't forget to call your insurance company!

Shifter Boot Cover

The car hasn't "flown" for a while in my garage so I thought I'd post a picture. The astute observer will notice the signature small wheels of a stroller in the back right. Yeah that's new since this blog started. :-)

The reason I lifted it up was to see if there was any access underneath for a nut to put on a screw or bolt to hold down the bottom ring for the shifter boot cover pictured below. I ordered it through redlinegoods.com and they made a nice piece for me. It's a nice leather and they'll stitch just about anything you want on it. I kept it simple with a double stitch pattern with a dark blue thread to go with the paint job. (But you could get baseball stitch patterns and all kinds of stuff on their web site.) They tell you it ships through the European Union and mine came from an address in Poland so that was different.
